Photographing Actors is Different! There's a degree of artistry that goes into working with an actor. You cannot treat an actor like a model, or a doctor, or an executive. When an actor is in front of my camera, they are working hard for each shot; it's different.
My experience in this area has taught me that each actor needs to be helped during the shoot to demonstrate emotion and show real expression. I'm not looking for a pretty photo - that's for amateurs. If that's your goal, you've got the wrong approach; if you take the easy route, the resulting images will be flat and boring, and the photographer isn't doing their job properly. I need energy and effort from my actors. I collaborate with them during their photoshoot. I take them through their paces and expect them to keep working until we've captured something special. When I put an actor in front of my lens, they get a work out, and I get compelling photographs. Each of my actors receives prep work to do at home before their photoshoot. I stretch them during the session and I need them prepared for the task. If you'd like to be one of my subjects, and behold some provoking images of yourself, please contact me here. Sheona Beach |
